The Tikhaks, a sub-tribe of the Tangsa tribe settled in the Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh, belongs to the mongoloid stock of races belonging to the Tibeto-Burman stock of language who practise the Theravada sect of Buddhism. This book, based on an empirical study conducted in the Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh, seeks to examine the different aspects of social and cultural life of the Tikhak Tangsas of Arunachal Pradesh. Studying their origin, migration, and settlement pattern, it discusses at length their traditional society and practices, their socio-economic and political institutions, and the faith and belief system. It also analyses the continuity and changes seen in the traditional Tikhak society. Moreover, the study is ethno-historical intended to work out a systematic ethno-historical study of the tribe with changes and continuity in the socio-cultural aspects.
