Description:

The book, based on observational fieldwork research conducted at the Pippli centre located on the highway between Bhubaneswar to Jagannathpuri in Odisa, explores the varieties of the colourful textile patch work known in French as Appliqué craft combined with traditional cultural motifs produced in Odisa. The Pippli artisan community has been thoroughly and structurally researched and has been described in four categories of manufacture: traders; sellers; artisan labourer workers; and buyers. The community has been visualised from the points of view of sex, age, religion and professional heritage. This research is an enhancement of the applique material culture against plastic pollution.
